meets their own standard of quality
nintendo’s job is simply to make sure that when you put the disc in your wii, it’ll work
as others have said before me, the seal is used to indicate that a product is licensed by nintendo
without it, it would be difficult to know whether a product is unlicensed or counterfeit
it was never used to indicate quality
if it is used to indicate quality, then most third-party developers would not develop games for nintendo’s systems as they will lose independence on how their games are made
the misconceptions about the nintendo « seal » need to stop as they are driven by ignorance about its history and purpose
all the seal means is that the product (game or accessory) will work with nintendo’s official products
nintendo has never determined what games « deserve » the seal based on the actual quality of the game, just whether or not nintendo actually did license the game
so yes, they should still use it

sepewrathexactly, what do you people think there was never a bad game or shovelware back in 1986 trying to capitalize on what was popular at the time
lets not forget all the crappy mario and sonic knockoffs, the street fighter knockoffs, the double dragon knock offs, the bad license games and so on, and all got the nintendo seal of quality
as long as there is gaming, there will be bad games, there will be shovelware, unless you just started gaming 6 months ago, stop acting as if this is new to you
i’ll third what you guys have said
maybe our dear thread creator is too young to remember the nes era
just to illustrate how bad the shovelware issue was back then, just notice how nes shovelware launched the internet phenomenon known as the angry video game nerd
and the angry nerd hasn’t reviewed 1/20th of the overwhelming pile of shovelware that was released on the nes
also, keep in mind that we didn’t have interwebs back then
only a couple of magazines and word of mouth
the first one was neat, but magazines (just like websites today) were biased, and some reviewers simply had horrible taste
word of mouth was the best way to avoid shovelware and, considering the whole kane and lynch fiasco, as well as some other weird incidents, it still is, at least to some extent
wow tc, youre honestly very closed minded
havn’t you thought of the fact that the casuals probably think the games are good, and its just you and other « hardcores » that think they’re bad just because you don’t like those types of games
how would you like it if the casuals asked nintendo to take the seal of quality off all hardcore games because they think they’re bad just because they don’t like those types of games
you’re confused on what the seal ever meant
lol there was no point to it in the first place
their products should work with their other products
the nintendo seal of quality went from « games that are great! » to « games on a nintendo system! »
pffft, all it means is that the seal shows that the product(s) is officially indorse by nintendo, & not just some cheap knock off
you’re just trying to debate that theseal should be narrowed down to « good games », but in reality what we consider a good game is a matter of opinion
also nintendo can’t really do that, without others accusing them for being bias or something along those lines
the nintendo seal of quality went from « games that are great! » to « games on a nintendo system! »
the « nintendo seal of quality » only meant that the game was presented to nintendo and got the « ok » to put it on the system
during the nes and snes days, there were game developers who would find ways to make their games playable on the system, even though nintendo never gave them permission to do so
the seal was a way of telling the products that were considered true games for the system from the no-name junk that were secretly trying to cash in on the success of nintendo’s systems
it was never a matter of actually quality, and anyone who has a history of the past systems can tell you that those systems saw more « shovelware, » as some of you like to put it these days, than the wii has seen and some were probably more broken than any wii game has been thus far
here’s perhaps the
